Che Johnson Community Development

Che Johnson is AMFT with JustBTherapy in California and Intact Global's Community Development Director.

Che is the author of “Infant Genital Mutilation: The Trauma of the Surgical Gender Stamp” which shows that forced genital mutilation is a sexual trauma as defined by the DSM-V (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual, V Edition).

Before practicing psychotherapy, the author worked in the Recording Industry as both an audio engineer and a music licensing manager for numerous entertainment companies including Warner Bros., Disney, and Priority Records. Che is a graduate of Antioch University, Los Angeles, where he was President of The Black Student Union and Commencement Speaker for the Class of 2020 with a master's degree in psychology. He is also a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a degree in anthropology.

Che enjoys active membership in: CAMFT (California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists); Psychology Today; Founder’s MCC (Metropolitan Community Church - The Longest existing LGBTQIA+ Church in the World); SGI-USA (Soka Gakkai International - one of the oldest Buddhist Organizations in the US); Project Angel Food, DADA (Debbie Allen Dance Academy), and; Golden Road Aquatics.

As a Queer Jewish Black Man Of Color whose parents married when it was still illegal in the US (his mother was Jewish and his father was Black & Indigenous-American), and who married his husband just after it became legal for them to wed in the US, Che is no stranger to witnessing history’s laws transforming in his lifetime. Che sees the commitment to ending forced genital mutilation in this country - and the world - as part of this Arc of Justice.
