Gift Acceptance Policy

How we handle gifts

We have strict guidelines for accepting gifts, grants, and donations to ensure that all accepted contributions align with the our mission, values, and legal obligations.

Acceptance Criteria

IGI may accept gifts, donations, and contributions that are consistent with its mission and purposes and do not impose undue restrictions or obligations on the organization. Gifts shall be evaluated based on their compatibility with the organization’s programs, goals, and ethical standards.

Types of Acceptable Gifts

Acceptable gifts may include, but are not limited to, cash donations, securities, real estate, cryptocurrencies, tangible personal property, and bequests. Gifts of complex or non-cash assets shall be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to assess their feasibility and impact on the organization.

Restrictions and Conditions

IGI reserves the right to decline gifts that are subject to unacceptable conditions, restrictions, or obligations that could compromise the organization’s independence, integrity, or mission. Donors shall be informed of any limitations or conditions associated with their gifts.

Valuation and Acknowledgment

Gifts shall be valued and acknowledged in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards. Donors shall receive prompt and appropriate acknowledgment of their gifts, including tax receipts where applicable.

Stewardship and Accountability

IGI shall exercise proper stewardship and accountability in the management and use of donated funds and assets. Donations shall be used in accordance with the donor’s intent, if specified and as appropriate, and for purposes consistent with the organization’s mission and priorities.

Gift Acceptance Committee

A Gift Acceptance Committee, consisting of the Sole Member and anyone the Sole Member may designate from time to time, shall be responsible for reviewing and approving significant gifts. The Committee shall ensure compliance with this Policy and assess the suitability of proposed gifts.

Acknowledgment

All directors, officers, key employees, and important independent contractors of IGI should be made aware of this Policy, and be promptly sent a copy of this Policy upon request. Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from office, termination of employment, and/or legal action as appropriate.
